WAGLANDS · DOG DAYCARE WELLINGTON · LOWER HUTT

Dog daycare, done properly

Waglands is a dog daycare in Wellington built around small matched playgroups, dedicated handlers, enrichment, rest, and over a hectare of outdoor space — with Wellington pickup points designed to make daycare easier for busy dog owners.

WHY DOGS THRIVE AT WAGLANDS

THE RIGHT FIT MATTERS

Waglands is designed around thoughtful group matching, structured days, and dogs who enjoy social company, enrichment, and outdoor experiences. Every dog starts with an assessment so we can confirm the right fit and group environment.

ENVIRONMENT MATTERS

A real environment, not just a room or yard

Waglands gives dogs space, variety, and choice throughout the day — from open yards and bush areas to heated indoor spaces for rest, reset, and weather management.

That mix of movement, enrichment, and downtime helps dogs have a better day, not just a busier one.

GETTING STARTED

Start with an application

Every new dog starts with an application and assessment so we can understand their needs, check group fit, and make sure Waglands is the right environment for them.

Assessment days are $68 and help us confirm whether Waglands is the right fit for your dog.

Can I visit before booking?
The first step is to complete an application so we can check whether Waglands is likely to suit your dog and whether we have space in the right group. Once we have reviewed a successful application, you are welcome to ask about a visit or tour.

WAGLANDS EXPRESS BUS

Less time in transit. More time at daycare.

Waglands uses set pickup and drop-off points rather than long house-to-house collection routes, so dogs spend less time travelling and more time at daycare.

Dogs travel in their own individual spaces in our vans to keep transport calm, safe, and predictable. Transport is $7 per trip, with set pickup points in the CBD, Lower Hutt, and Silverstream.

DEDICATED HANDLERS & LEARNING STORIES

Your dog is known here

Each playgroup has a dedicated handler who gets to know the dogs in their care — how they socialise, what helps them settle, and how they engage throughout the day.

That means feedback is more than cute photos. Learning stories give owners useful insight into how their dog is progressing, what they are practising, and how their daycare experience can support life at home.

Observations and learning progress are tracked consistently so dogs are supported thoughtfully over time

OWNER-LED SINCE 2009

Built by people who live and breathe dogs

Waglands is owned and run by Arlene and Ben Adams, who have been shaping the business since 2009. What started with a deep love of dogs has grown into a purpose-built daycare model designed around social fit, enrichment, rest, and better daily experiences for dogs.

Arlene and Ben are still actively involved in the business, supported by a team who know the dogs, the routines, and the standards that make Waglands work.

NEED TO KNOW

A few common questions

We look at each dog individually, including their social confidence, play style, recall, ability to settle, and what they are likely to enjoy day-to-day. Our goal is thoughtful group matching and a positive experience for both the dog and the wider group.

Dogs need current core vaccinations and canine cough vaccination before attending Waglands. Vaccination records are checked as part of the enrolment process.

The first step is to complete an application so we can check whether Waglands is likely to suit your dog and whether we have space in the right group. Once we have reviewed a successful application, you are welcome to ask about a visit or tour.

No. Dogs are grouped by size, personality, play style, confidence, age, health, and individual needs.

Waglands is designed around regular, consistent attendance rather than casual drop-in care. This helps dogs settle into a routine, build relationships with their handler and playgroup, and get the most out of their day.

Casual days may be available for existing daycare dogs where we already know the dog, have a suitable group, and have space on the day. For new dogs, the first step is to apply for an assessment and discuss the best regular attendance option.

Waglands no longer offers general dog boarding. Midweek sleepovers are available Monday to Thursday for regular daycare customers, subject to availability. The old boarding page states boarding closed in October 2023 and midweek sleepovers are now exclusively for regular daycare customers
